The dragons are some of the strongest monsters in the game. And due to the faction bonuses until they start losing too many troops, they are arguably some of the best melee units in the game.
And the HE have amazing leadership and good armor for high tier troops. Both are well balanced defensive and offensive units. The high elves have swordmasters and phoenix guard. They'll hold on to the end unless you flank and wipe their lord. Never been a fan of playing chaos, but playing against them sucks unless you have lots of ap units.
